The Bent Pyramid at Dahshur changed angle midway through construction, its lower section rising at 54 degrees before switching to a shallower 43 degrees, apparently in response to structural concerns with the original plan. The result is unique in the entire corpus of ancient monuments: a pyramid whose construction history is written into its own geometry. Two separate entrances give access to two separate interior systems, both with corbelled chambers whose acoustic properties have been formally measured. The mortarless limestone casing, unusually well preserved on the southern face, shows the quality of the original surface treatment.
