Heavy Erosion

The naveta's wall stones show heavy surface erosion across all exposed faces — more pronounced, on first inspection, than what a 3,000–3,400 year old structure in Menorca's Mediterranean climate might be expected to show. Whether the official dating, which rests primarily on typological comparison within the naveta tradition rather than direct radiometric dating of the construction stones, fully accounts for the weathering visible on site is uncertain.

Large Monoliths

The naveta's end-wall orthostats — the large upright slabs that form the curved rear of the boat shape — are substantial limestone monoliths, the largest elements in the structure. The entrance lintel, if original, is a single horizontal block spanning the doorway. Moving and positioning these elements at a coastal site with no obvious approach route for heavy loads raises the same logistical questions that the Large Monolith tag is intended to flag, even at the lower end of the tonnage range the tag covers.

Mortarless Precision

The naveta's walls — including the outer boat-shaped courses and the corbelled interior chamber — are built entirely without mortar or binding material. The corbelling of the roof is a structural problem solved through dry-stone alone: each course slightly overhangs the one below until the span is closed, relying on the accumulated weight of the masonry above to hold the cantilever in compression. This technique requires precise placement of every stone in relation to every other, and has kept the structure stable for approximately three thousand years.

Stone Circles / Henges

Na Comerma's forecourt area and the arrangement of standing orthostats around the entrance show traces of what may originally have been a near-circular or horseshoe configuration of standing stones — a defined and demarcated sacred approach consistent with the henge tradition. Heavy erosion and structural collapse over the millennia make the original plan difficult to reconstruct today, and classification here is tentative. But the spatial logic — monumental stones arranged to define a threshold between profane and sacred space — is present.

T-Shaped Pillars

Among the surviving structural elements at Na Comerma, at least one upright stone bears a T-shaped profile — a vertical element with a wider horizontal course at the top. Partially obscured by heavy erosion and structural collapse, the form is recognisable but less pronounced than the dedicated taula monuments found at other Talayotic sites. Its relationship to the T-pillars of Göbekli Tepe — the most cited cross-cultural architectural parallel in prehistoric research — is uncertain but formally visible.
