The taula at So na Cacana is oriented in accordance with the Talayotic tradition of astronomical alignment — the sanctuary's horseshoe precinct opens to the south, consistent with the pattern documented at other Menorcan taula sites. The specific celestial targets of this orientation have not been as thoroughly studied as at Torralba d'en Salort, but the formal design intent is present in the structure.

Heavy Erosion

So na Cacana shows the same pattern of heavy surface erosion visible across Menorca's Talayotic monuments — pronounced edge rounding, deep surface dissolution, and lichen colonisation on the larger structural blocks. As at other Talayotic sites on the island, this degree of weathering prompts the question of whether the official dating fully accounts for what is visible on the ground.

Large Monoliths

The taula's two principal components — vertical pillar and horizontal capstone — are large monoliths in the functional sense: single stones of sufficient weight and dimension that their placement required organised labour and a considered approach to lifting. The talayot tower at So na Cacana incorporates large limestone courses in its base register. Across the Talayotic tradition on Menorca, the repeated appearance of multi-tonne stones placed with precision at sites across the island implies a sustained and organised stone-handling capability whose material evidence — tools, ramps, ropes, intermediate stages — has not survived.

Mortarless Precision

The taula, its horseshoe precinct enclosure, and the talayot tower at So na Cacana are all dry-stone construction — no mortar, no binding agent, no metal fixings. The taula's equilibrium, a vertical stone pillar balancing a heavier horizontal capstone without any mechanical assistance, is maintained entirely by the geometry of the contact surface between the two elements. This is a structural solution that requires precise shaping of both stones at their interface — a demand for accuracy that is easy to overlook in a structure that looks, at weathered first glance, like rough field-stone work.

Polygonal Jigsaw

The construction at So na Cacana shows the same pattern visible at Torre d'en Galmes and Torralba d'en Salort: large limestone blocks whose original joint preparation is partially masked by heavy surface erosion. In the least weathered sections, the fitting between adjacent blocks is tighter than simple dry-stone construction would require, suggesting the original standard of finish was more refined. Whether this originally met the threshold of Polygonal Jigsaw fitting — multi-cornered blocks individually shaped to their neighbours — is speculative, but the physical evidence does not exclude it.

Stone Circles / Henges

The taula precinct at So na Cacana follows the standard Talayotic form: a horseshoe or near-circular enclosure of standing limestone slabs surrounding the central taula. As a defined sacred enclosure demarcated by monumental standing stones, it shares the formal logic of a henge and warrants classification in the same category — a ringed sacred space oriented to celestial events.

T-Shaped Pillars

The taula at So na Cacana is a T-shaped megalith in the standard Talayotic form — a vertical stone pillar supporting a horizontal capstone at the top, forming the distinctive T-profile that also defines the pillars of Göbekli Tepe and Karahan Tepe in Anatolia. Together with the taula at Torre d'en Galmes and Torralba d'en Salort, So na Cacana's monument contributes to the dense concentration of T-shaped ceremonial megaliths unique to Menorca — a formal parallel with the world's oldest known temple complex that remains unexplained by conventional prehistory.
